Oleic Acid
Oleic acid, an organic compound whose
product is defined as an unsaturated fatty acid containing eighteen carbon
atoms with a carbon-carbon double bond (ene double bond) present in the carbon
chain. Fatty acids are an important class of biomolecules with diverse
physiological functions and application fields.
Acid value does not define the oleic fraction
No. Acid value describes neutralisation demand per unit mass, not the proportion of oleic acid. Acidity, iodine value and composition address acid content, unsaturation and individual fatty-acid fractions.
Reaction-feedstock and formulation roles
For reaction work, relate acidity, composition and impurities to the reaction objective. For formulation work, also compare compatibility, appearance and storage behaviour in the complete system.
Receiving appearance and opening records
Link colour, package condition, batch identity and opening time to later use. Follow the material safety instructions for heat exposure, closure and protection; colour alone cannot determine purity.
